Nebraska Cornhuskers Unveil Striking All-Black Uniforms for USC Showdown
Nebraska Cornhuskers reveal all-black alternate uniforms for their highly anticipated matchup against USC Trojans, blending tradition with modern design.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are set to make a bold statement this season with their all-black alternate uniforms, a look they haven’t sported since 2020. The team announced the new design on Friday, revealing that the uniforms will debut in their November 1st game against the USC Trojans.
The latest design features white numerals and a white helmet with a black stripe running from top to bottom. The phrase "Tradition of Winning" is emblazoned across the neckline in white lettering, adding a touch of legacy to the modern aesthetic.

The black uniforms hold a special significance for the Cornhuskers, particularly their defense, which is famously nicknamed Blackshirts. This tradition dates back to coach Bob Devaney’s third season when the defensive unit wore black pullover jerseys during practice. Over the years, this tradition has evolved but remains a cornerstone of Nebraska’s identity.
Head coach Matt Rhule emphasized the importance of the black jerseys, stating, "We are the Blackshirt defense. When I was at Albright College, our defense wore black jerseys because of Nebraska. So, I think black is a little bit within our DNA of who we are historically. Once a year, maybe we go out there and do a different black jersey every year. I think it’s really fun. I think it’s cool."
Rhule also mentioned that Nebraska "has a right to do cool things" and anticipates the matchup against the Trojans to be a night game, making the all-black uniforms a fitting choice. This game marks USC’s first visit to Lincoln since 2007, adding to the excitement and anticipation surrounding the event.
The Cornhuskers’ new uniforms are not just a fashion statement but a nod to their storied past and a symbol of their readiness to dominate on the field. Fans and players alike are eager to see the team take the field in these striking new uniforms, ready to uphold their tradition of winning.
