Breeders' Cup Classic: City of Troy Favored
City of Troy is the favorite to win the Breeders' Cup Classic. The race will feature 14 horses from around the world.

The $7 million Breeders' Cup Classic is set to take place on Saturday at Del Mar, with City of Troy emerging as the 5-2 morning-line favorite in a field of 14. The Ireland-bred horse will be making his first start on dirt under Ryan Moore, having built his reputation on grass. He will be aiming to give Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien his first victory in the Classic, having previously finished as a runner-up twice. Fierceness, trained by Todd Pletcher, was made the 3-1 second choice and will break from the No. 9 post under John Velazquez. The colt won the Jim Dandy and Travers at Saratoga last summer. Forever Young from Japan, third in the Kentucky Derby, drew the No. 1 post and will be ridden by Ryusei Saki. The Classic will air live on NBC. A record five continents will be represented by 80 horses, with the over $34 million, 14-race world championships taking place on Friday and Saturday at the seaside track north of San Diego. Del Mar is hosting for the third time in the event's 41-year history.
