Lucas Vázquez, a cornerstone of Real Madrid's golden era, departs after a storied career, leaving behind a legacy of 23 titles and countless memories.

MADRID -- Lucas Vázquez, a pivotal figure in one of Real Madrid's most triumphant periods, is concluding his tenure with the Spanish giants. Both the club and the player confirmed on Wednesday that he will not be returning for another season.
"I'm leaving Real Madrid, but Real Madrid will never leave me," Vázquez expressed on social media. "Wherever I go, I will proudly say that I had the honor of playing for the best team in the world. Thank you for joining me on the most beautiful journey of my life."
Real Madrid is set to honor the 34-year-old with a farewell ceremony on Thursday. "Real Madrid would like to express our gratitude and affection to Lucas Vázquez, one of the great legends of our club," the club stated.
Vázquez's illustrious career with Madrid includes 23 titles, among them five Champions League trophies and four LaLiga championships. He made 402 appearances, showcasing his versatility by playing as a right-back, forward, attacking midfielder, and impactful substitute.
"Lucas Vázquez embodies the values of Real Madrid, earning him the adoration of our fans," said club president Florentino Pérez. "His dedication, humility, and winning spirit are quintessential to our success. He will always be a cherished part of the Real Madrid family."
Joining the club's youth academy in 2007, Vázquez made his first-team debut in 2015 after a loan spell at Espanyol. While he has not disclosed his future plans, his departure marks the end of an era for Madrid.
The club recently faced a challenging season, losing the LaLiga title to Barcelona and falling short in the Club World Cup and Champions League. Vázquez's exit is part of a broader transition, with Luka Modric moving to AC Milan and Xabi Alonso taking over as head coach.
As the curtain falls on Vázquez's chapter with Real Madrid, his legacy as a club legend remains indelible, celebrated by fans and teammates alike.
