Neal Shipley and Blades Brown Shine at the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge
Neal Shipley and Blades Brown receive special invitations to the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge, showcasing their rising talent in the PGA Tour.

Rising Stars at the Charles Schwab Challenge
The Charles Schwab Challenge, held annually at the Colonial Country Club, continues its cherished tradition of the Champions' Choice. This unique feature allows past tournament champions to select two players for a special invitation into the field. This year, the spotlight is on Neal Shipley and Blades Brown, two promising talents making waves in the golf world.
Neal Shipley's Journey
Neal Shipley, who turned pro after an impressive amateur career, has already proven his mettle on some of the biggest stages in golf. In 2024, he finished as the low amateur at both the Masters and the U.S. Open, capturing the imagination of golf fans worldwide. His transition to professional golf has been marked by determination and success.
"It's been massive knowing that I can compete at those biggest stages so when I come out here, I know that I can beat most of the guys out here," Shipley told reporters. "I think that's something that a lot of young pros don't get out of college, so really grateful for those two experiences."
Shipley's professional journey has been further highlighted by his appearance on the Netflix docuseries "Full Swing", which has brought him even more recognition. This week, he is making his second PGA Tour start of the season, aiming to continue his upward trajectory.
Blades Brown's Ascent
Blades Brown, a 17-year-old prodigy who turned pro over the winter, is another exciting addition to the field. Despite his young age, Brown has already shown immense potential and is eager to make his mark on the PGA Tour.
The Tournament Experience
Both players expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to compete at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Shipley, in particular, is thrilled to be back in Texas, a state he holds in high regard.
"I love being in Texas. If I didn't live in Florida, I would probably live here," Shipley said. "Yeah, super excited. Barbecue food here is just pretty elite, so can't beat it."
The Colonial Country Club has been praised for its impeccable condition, and the warm welcome extended by the membership has made the experience even more special for the players.
Looking Ahead
Shipley's focus remains on securing his PGA Tour card through the Korn Ferry Tour, where he has already notched his first professional title by winning a playoff at the LECOM Suncoast Classic in April.
"A lot of our focus this year is on the Korn Ferry Tour, getting into one of those top 20 spots (that automatically qualify to the PGA Tour)," he said. "... There's been great opportunities, and I'm able to play tour events. I want to be out here. This is where I want to play."
As the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge unfolds, all eyes will be on these two young stars as they continue to chase their dreams and make their mark on the world of professional golf.
