The Chicago White Sox made significant roster adjustments this Saturday by claiming right-handed pitcher Yoendrys Gomez off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers and releasing outfielder Greg Jones. This move aims to enhance the team's pitching staff as they continue their campaign in the 2025 MLB season.

Yoendrys Gomez, 25, is transitioning to his third organization this season. Previously claimed by the Dodgers from the New York Yankees last month, Gomez has a combined record of 1-1 with a 6.28 ERA and one three-out save in nine relief appearances this season. Over his three-season career in the major leagues, he has appeared in 15 games, holding a 4.88 ERA.

On the other hand, Greg Jones, 27, had a brief stint with the White Sox, going 0-for-2 in three games this season. His career stats include a 1-for-7 record in nine games, following a short period with the Colorado Rockies last season.

In additional roster moves, the White Sox have called up first baseman Tim Elko from Triple-A Charlotte, where he impressed with a .348 batting average, 10 home runs, and 23 RBIs in 31 games. Elko is set to make his major league debut, batting eighth in the lineup against the Miami Marlins. To make room for Elko, infielder Nick Maton was designated for assignment. Maton, who has a career batting average of .201 with 17 home runs over five seasons, was batting .167 with two home runs and four RBIs in 25 games this season.
