Americans Shining at Australian Open

The 2025 Australian Open is in full swing, and a number of young American players are making a strong showing. Coco Gauff, Tommy Paul, and more are still in the running for the title, and they're joined by a few surprises.

Coco Gauff

The 20-year-old phenom has been one of the most consistent performers on the WTA Tour over the past two seasons. She won her first major title at the 2023 US Open, and she's been on a tear since then. Gauff has opened the 2025 season with eight consecutive victories, and she's looking to add another major title to her collection.

Tommy Paul

The 27-year-old had the best major result of his career at the 2023 Australian Open, when he reached the semifinals. He's looking to repeat that feat in 2025, and he's off to a good start. Paul has breezed through his first three matches, and he's looking to make a deep run at the tournament.

Emma Navarro

The 23-year-old had a breakthrough season in 2024, reaching the semifinals at the US Open and the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. Navarro is looking to make her first major semifinal appearance, and she'll have a chance to do so against Daria Kasatkina in the next round.

Alex Michelsen

The 20-year-old is one of the most exciting young players on the ATP Tour. He's making just his second appearance at the Australian Open, and he's already reached the fourth round. Michelsen has defeated two ATP top-20 players, and he's looking to continue his run at the tournament.

Madison Keys

The 29-year-old is a two-time semifinalist in Melbourne and a former US Open finalist. She's been in good form in 2025, reaching the quarterfinals at the Australian Open. Learner Tien
