Pete Alonso is an old-school star with big power and a big market presence. However, his free agency has been a slow grind due to concerns about his age, on-base percentages, and defensive and baserunning value. We compare him to other first basemen who have signed $100 million deals and analyze how he stacks up. We also look at how first basemen age and the predictability of Alonso's power. Finally, we consider which teams might still be a potential fit for Alonso.
