White Sox Make Roster Moves: Mike Tauchman Returns from Injured List, Travis Jankowski Designated for Assignment
The White Sox reinstate Mike Tauchman from the injured list and designate Travis Jankowski for assignment as the team adjusts its outfield options.

White Sox Activate Mike Tauchman, DFA Travis Jankowski
The Chicago White Sox made key roster adjustments on Sunday, reinstating outfielder Mike Tauchman from the 10-day injured list while designating fellow outfielder Travis Jankowski for assignment. This move comes as the team reshapes its lineup to strengthen its offensive and defensive depth.
Tauchman Returns After Hamstring Strain
Tauchman, 34, had been sidelined since March 27 (retroactive to March 23) due to a strained right hamstring. The veteran outfielder, who signed with the White Sox as a free agent in December, brings experience and versatility to the roster. Having played 474 career games across stints with the Rockies, Yankees, Giants, and Cubs, Tauchman owns a .241 batting average with 32 home runs and 155 RBIs.
Over the past two seasons with the Cubs, he posted a solid .250 average with 15 homers, 77 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases, making him a valuable addition for Chicago's lineup.
Jankowski’s Brief Stint with the White Sox Ends
In a corresponding move, Travis Jankowski was designated for assignment just weeks after signing with the White Sox on March 13. The 33-year-old speedster was previously released by the Cubs and had only appeared in seven games for Chicago, going 3-for-14 with one run scored.
Jankowski, a former first-round pick by the Padres in 2012, has played for six MLB teams in his career, compiling a .235 batting average over 688 games. While his time in Chicago was short, he remains a potential depth option for clubs in need of outfield reinforcements.
What’s Next for the White Sox?
With Tauchman’s return, the White Sox gain a left-handed bat capable of playing all three outfield positions. His experience and consistency at the plate could provide a spark for an offense that has struggled at times this season.
As for Jankowski, his designation for assignment gives the White Sox seven days to either trade, release, or outright him to the minors. Given his track record as a capable bench player, he may draw interest from teams seeking veteran depth.
